Annual Report of The Stourport Literary Institute ... 1878 The Annual Regatta and Horticultural Show held during the summer, as a Public Fete was very successful, the competition, both in the aquatic sports and in the horticultural department, being greater than in any previous year. The Council regret, however that the largely increased expenditure did not meet with corresponding increase in the receipts, although these were greater than in any past year, consequently there is only a very slight balance in hand. The Council express their grateful thanks to those ladies and gentlemen who again subscribed to the prize fund. The Boat Club and Cricket Club in connection with the Institute continue to flourish, and afford healthy recreation and pleasant enjoyment to many. The elected Council of the Literary Institute for the year 1879 were: President, W. Moore; Vice President, H. H. Williams; Hon. Treasurer, H. V. Palling; The Rev. B. Althorne; E. Baldwin; A. Baldwin; The Rev. B. Gibbons; C. Harrison. |
