Bewdley Regatta ... 1974

The semi finals proved to be Stourport's stumbling block at Bewdley Regatta, where they were represented in Senior A, and Senior C Fours.
The first crew had a bye through to the second round where they met Northwich who had beaten Derby by 4 lengths earlier in the day. Northwich have won 4 Elite and some Senior A pots at Northern Regattas this season. Stourport lost 1/2 length on a scrappy start, but attacked hard throughout the race, eventually losing by 3/4 length after an exciting race. Northwich went on to beat Hereford in the final.
In Senior C Fours, Stourport defeated Hereford by 1/2 length in their first heat, and Worcester by 1 1/2 lengths in the second, and met Bewdley in the semi final. Bewdley had a lead of one length at the beginning of the enclosure, and it says a lot for Stourport's fight that this was whittled down to 2 feet at the finish.
