Evesham Sprint Regatta 1976
Stourport were unlucky to lose the chance of a pot from Evesham Sprint Regatta on Easter Monday, though most crews rowed above themselves.
The Senior A crew drew Kingston Grammar School in their first heat, who went on to win the event in fine style, beating the home crew by 1/2 length. The Senior C crew beat Evesham 'A' in their first heat but bow fell off his seat on the first stroke against Stratford which let them slip ahead and Stourport could not recover the defecit.
The club were also represented by a veteran four who improved remarkably during training in the previous week. However they were not happy with their race despite losing to a very competent but scratch Evesham Four. An Elite B Four was thrown together on the day and rowed well to lose by two feet to Quintin, who contained two top class Elite oarsmen, one being an international.
The Senior C sculler won his first heat against Kingston after a clash in mid-strem, but lost his second race by two feet to an Evesham sculler.

Evesham Regatta 1976
A strong following wind at Evesham Regatta last weekend resulted in Stourport's hope of an early pot being thwarted. Any crew drawn on the town side had an almost impossible task to pull back the one and a half length stagger on the start, only to be shielded from the wind in the home straight.
The novice four were the first to suffer, racing a good Pangbourne college crew in their first heat, and losing by just over a length. The Senior C Four were similarly desposed of by a strong Reading crew, Stourport never relly showing their true mettle. The Boat Club's veteran four wereexposed to some unsubtle gamesmanship before their straight final against the home club, being kept waiting for som three quarters of an hour in pouring rain. Eventually they were not able to match the experience of this Evesham crew.
Tom Edwards, in Senior B sculls could not match the power of Lever, sculling for Martyr Rowing Club, who is a force to be reckoned with under any circumstances, and Richard Lloyd lost a close second heat to an Evesham sculler who there upon scratched from the event.
